Diffusion and resolution techniques
We all get stressed, anxious, wound up and exhausted. Anyone that tells you otherwise is probably not being honest with themself! It's how we recognise and manage those symptoms that counts.
Using up mental energy reserves is often harder to spot than physical exertion. Quick fixes can be good, repetition can make them more automatic. The more we learn about our own body and reactions, the better fine tuned we can become........... try this quick fix breathing technique to improve body and mind balance.
When we are feeling anxious, focusing on our breathing can help to slow down our heart rate and distract us from stressful situations.
This technique involves you breathing in through your nose for 3 seconds and out through your mouth for 5 seconds.
You can change the number of seconds if you feel you can do a little more or if you feel you need to do a little less, but always make sure your out-breath lasts longer.
This is because your out-breath (exhale) triggers our body’s relaxation response; by breathing out more slowly you strengthen this response.
